We are pleased to accept abstracts for our virtual short research presentations and rapid-fire poster session. The deadline to submit an abstract is September 2, 2025, at 11:59 PM CT. After submission, all abstracts will be reviewed by the participating COBRE, IDeA-CTR, and INBRE review teams. If necessary, independent reviewers with subject-matter expertise may also review submissions.

Authors whose abstracts are selected will be notified via e-mail by October 3, 2025. There will be two short research presentation sessions on November 5, 2025. The first session is scheduled for 1:00pm-2:00pm CT (2:00pm-3:00pm ET) and the second session is scheduled for 2:30pm-3:30pm CT (3:30pm-4:30pm ET). A Note on the Short Research Presentations:

For this year’s virtual symposium, those selected to participate in the short research presentations should prepare a presentation lasting no longer than ten minutes in length (and with a slideshow not to exceed 12 slides). Time and slide limits are in place to ensure that presenters will be able to provide an overview of their research within each session’s allotted time (exactly one hour). We will not be collecting presentation slides for Short Research Presentations. All presenters will be responsible for sharing their slides during their assigned session.

A Note on the Rapid-Fire Poster Session:

The goal of the rapid-fire poster session is to provide an energetic, fast-paced format to showcase a multitude of projects in substance use research. Those selected to participate in the rapid-fire poster session will be given three minutes to present their poster to the audience. We will not be collecting presentation slides for Posters. All presenters will be responsible for sharing their slides during their assigned session.
